Can i use my old iPhone 4 for automation

I have my old iPhone 4 with V7.1.2.

Can i connect my device to Appium Studio(10.8.32) and work on it? Or are there any compatibility issues?

My device is connected and listed in Device list, but when i am trying to Open Device, i am getting “Could not support non-instrumented mode.Failed to connect to XCAutomation. Reason: Instruments creation error: -2”

As per this link, it should support iOS 7 and above.

But what i am missing in above?

The documentation you are referring to are for SeeTest Automation.

Appium Studio supports iOS 9.x and above and Android 4.4 and above

Can i upgrade my OS to iOS 9 and start using latest AS?

Will there be any dependency on phone model like iPhone 4 may or may not support?

Hi,

iPhone 4 OS goes up to 7.1.2. If your model is 4S then you can upgrade to iOS 9.
As far as dependencies on phone mode, what really counts is the OS running on the device.
